A grant is a financial assistance that is provided to people to help support a particular cause. Disabled Grants can be both need based as well as merit based. In the US, there are 26 Federal agencies that offer over 1,000 grant programs annually in various categories, viz. Agriculture, Business and Commerce, Community Development, Disaster Prevention and Relief, Education, Employment, Labor and Training, Arts, Energy, Environmental Quality, Food and Nutrition, Health, Housing, Humanities, Information and Statistics, Law, Justice and Legal Services, Natural Resources, Recovery Act, Regional Development, Science and Technology, Social Services and Income, Security and Transportation. In addition to Federal grants, there are numerous private entities that provide grants as well.

Availability of Federal Grants

It would behoove the readers to note that although there are numerous federal grants, very few of these are available to individuals. Moreover, grants are not provided for personal financial assistance. Typically, federal grants are made available to the following entities: Government Organizations, Educational Associations and Organizations, Public Housing Organizations, Non-Profit Organizations and Small Businesses.

Generally, federal grants are available to non-profit organizations and are for non-commercial purposes. Some federal grants are provided for the purpose of aiding community development and for conducting research in the field of health and medicine, science & technology and environment, and for promoting arts, humanities, and education. Small Business Innovative Research Grants were instituted in accordance with the Small Business Innovation Development Act of 1982. These small business grants are awarded for research and development in the following areas: environment, defense, health care, and information management.

Student grants are the most readily available federal grants. Grants for college students are both merit based as well as need based. Students have the option of applying for the following grants: Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) , Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) and the National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant. Of these, Federal Pell Grant and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant are need based while the Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) and the National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant are merit based.

Free Grant Money Applications

Applying for college grants is easy since students have to fill out free grant money applications, better known as FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This application is available at the high school guidance office, or people may choose to complete the application online by visiting the FAFSA or Student Aid website.

As far as other federal grants are concerned, individuals and aforementioned entities may visit the grants.gov website to complete the application. This website was established as a part of the President's 2002 Fiscal Year Management Agenda to improve government services to the public. People have access to approximately $500 billion in annual awards, and by registering just once they can apply for grants provided by the 26 federal grant disbursing agencies. The registration process takes 3-5 days and people have the facility of checking the status of their applications online.

In addition to applying for government grants, people have the option of applying for private grants, the procedure for which varies depending upon the disburser. Grantees must take adequate care and present a convincing case while drafting or filling out free grant money applications. Individuals and institutions can try approaching non-profit entities for further details.

Beware of sites claiming that they can provide you with useful info on these grants in exchange for fees. Information about grants is definitely fee, especially on the World Wide Web.

Before you say no to this great opportunity, you should determine the eligibility requirements first. Thanks to the government, minority groups such as yours can have a chance to live a better life - free from financial burdens.

Bad Credit Debt Consolidation Loans

Bad Credit Debt Consolidation Loans

| More

Are you looking to consolidate credit card or other debt? Do you have bad credit history? There are many options available online nowadays to help you consolidate your debt. Whether you are wanting to consolidate credit card debt or other kinds of debt, it can be overwhelming searching online to find the best ones for your situation. Here is a short overview of what kind of debt services are available online.
If you are looking for a loan to consolidate your debt, you will need to qualify for the loan, just like any other loan. If you have a home, you may be able to get an equity loan using your equity or even go over the appraised value of your home in order to get the financing you need.
You may be able to qualify for an unsecured loan, which can consolidate your debt with one low monthly payment with no ties to any of your assets.
There are other companies that will help you manage your debt without having to use another loan. These companies usually charge you a fee and then help negotiate lower interest rates with your creditors and manage your monthly payments. There are various ways to do this and every company is different. Usually these techniques will save you money to start paying down the principle on your credit balances.
Some of these companies are definitely worth the small monthly fee, and can save you much more than they charge. But, some of these companies are not legitimate and can take your monthly payments and keep them for a month or more before they make your payments (collecting interest on the money all the while), causing you to accrue late fees and possibly collections. These companies can actually cost you money and make your situation worse.
Be careful when searching for debt consolidation companies to work with. Make sure they are legitimate, long standing companies before you sign on the dotted line. To see our list of recommended debt consolidation lenders click on the link below.
Consolidating your debt can provide great relief and breathing room when it comes time to pay your bills. Sometimes, when you are up to the hilt in debt, it can be so overwhelming just keeping up with your bills that it can be difficult to think about ways to start paying the debt down.

How to Apply For Free Grants

How to Apply For Free Grants

| More

The one thing that is certain about our economy is that most people can always use more money - especially when they are trying to do something productive, such as going to school for the first time, going back to school or starting a business. While it seems the only option for obtaining money is to take out a loan for assistance, many don't know there are millions of dollars in free grants sitting around waiting for someone to claim it. So why don't people know about this free money? Because it is often not advertised. But now there are websites popping up that are assisting in bridging the gap between the grantor and potential grantee. In this article I will explore some of the websites that provide useful information to help you apply for free grants.

Creditfederal.com is great website to learn more about the many ways to apply for free grants. According to their website, "Credit Federal provides and maintains Government Grant and Unclaimed Property links as a free public service and is not a grantor." This means that they are not the ones specifically passing out grants. However, they have taken the initiative to combine and continuously update all of the information out there for you. So if you're looking for federal student assistance, government food assistance, Medicaid help, or even your own unclaimed money, Credit Federal has that information and is ready to help you. Check them out!
Grants.gov is a fantastic source to not only find, but apply for free grants from the government. This site is co-run by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services who has the intention of dispersing all available grant money to qualified applicants. So your objective should then be to see what grants you are eligible for.
In order to apply for free grants through Grants.gov you must first search for grants through their tracking system. Once you have selected the one or more grants you're interested in applying for, you will begin the application process. First you will download the grant application package, which you then can complete offline. Full instructions are provided in the package as well as an online tutorial. Once you are ready to submit, you click Save then click the Submit button and your application is ready to go. The application process can take anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks to complete, but you can track its status anytime on their Track Your Application page. Once everything is done, you'll find out whether you've been approved - let's hope you were - then you're finished. It doesn't get easier than this!
Financial Freedom Express is a website that assists potential applicants in finding general government, college, business, personal, health care and private grants. They offer a government grants guide that will help you apply for free grants with little hassle. They profess to have been created for the "do-it-yourself grant seeker who is interested in seeking out and applying for the grant, loan, and scholarship programs that he or she is eligible for." And to assist you, they have you start by choosing the grant type you are interested in pursuing, whether it be for college, business or personal.
Once you select your grant type, you are taken to a list of information regarding that particular grant type, including list of ways you may be eligible. Then you are instructed to download the grants guide, which you find out costs $9.99. While it may not seem fair to have to pay for this information, depending on your needs, it may be worth it to shell out a few bucks to receive a boatload of information that will eventually help you more than cover the purchase. But they assure you that with the purchase you will gain access to over 670 pages of free money information, so you may want to give a try - the choice is yours.
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is probably one of the most well-known places to begin your federal financial aid process. If you are looking to apply for free grants for your college experience, this is typically where you start, unless you are working through a private institution or organization. It is best to fill out there FAFSA as soon as possible after the calendar year begins (and after you have filed your federal taxes) because money is given on a first-come, first-served basis. On the FAFSA website they explain all of the information needed to get started and even provide an online application for once you're ready. Also, school counselors and financial aid offices are very helpful in getting you started. So if you want government assistance for school, this is the way to go.
Student Loan Xpress is, of course, a website that focuses on helping individuals apply for free grants for school. They specialize in educating prospective grant applicants on the best ways to apply for free money. They explain that grants and scholarships are by far the wisest way to go if you are interested in money for school because you don't have to repay the funds. However, they explain, grants are typically very competitive, which means you will need to maintain a high G.P.A. and competitive test scores.
To help you get started, they provide government grant and scholarship information, as well as directions on how to fill out the FAFSA. They also provide a lot of information on applying for student loans - but that's not what you're looking for, right? Well, okay, if you are, you'll find what you need with Student Loan Xpress.
When you are trying to get the money you need to accomplish your goals, it can almost seem as though there is no help available out there. But with these and other websites to help you apply for free grants, you will have a great steppingstone toward obtaining your goals. They are providing you with services that can potentially change your life. And after you've gained success from someone else's helping hand you might feel inspired to be that helping hand for someone else - then you might just be the one showing others how to apply for free grants. So why not begin the helping-hand cycle today.

How To Fill Out a Grant Application Form-Free Grants Online

How To Fill Out a Grant Application Form-Free Grants Online

Many individuals, organizations and businesses receive grants to help fund activities such as art or cultural projects, public-service programs, educational opportunities and business start-ups. Before you attempt to apply for a grant, identify what type of grant you are requesting and from whom you are seeking the funds. Lastly, the grant seeker will need to prepare application materials properly.

Instructions

Identifying the Type of Grant Desired and the Granting Source

1 Pinpoint the type of grant you are seeking (such as arts, education/research or small business). Determine whether you are seeking a grant as an individual or as an organization. Sometimes individuals will seek a foundation grant for a special project through a sponsoring non-profit.

2 Identify the granting source. An appropriate grant funding resource list or guide can be found at your public library or online. These resources are usually free, but some online grant resource listings must be purchased. A granting source may be a public or private foundation, a city/state/federal government or an individual.

3 Thoroughly read the grant application guidelines for the appropriate granting source. The guidelines should list all the material you will need for a complete grant application. Many applications are rejected simply because they are not complete or do not comply with the funding source guidelines.

4 Always make a note of the application deadline. A deadline could be a postmark deadline, if you are mailing your application, or a submission deadline, which is the date all applications must be received/acknowledged by the funding source.

Creating a Budget and Submitting Your Grant Application Materials

5 A budget is often requested for a grant project proposal. A budget sheet is usually provided in this case. It should state your total income--listing all sources of monetary/financial support that you are planning on getting, apart from the grant amount, such as matching funds. This includes "in kind donations," which are non-monetary, but valuable contributions to your project. Lastly, list your total expenditures. This is typically the grant amount you requested. Many grants have an upper limit on the total grant award for any given project. Total income, and total expenditures, should be equal.

A business plan may be requested if you are applying for a business start-up grant. This should be a professionally formatted proposal and should include market projections or research, competing businesses, public need, revenue projection, costs/capital outlay and any additional financing needs.

A research project or educational program proposal, usually no more than three pages long, should include a statement of goals (anticipated outcome), collaborators (if any), public or research need and methodology to be used.

Regarding work samples/proof of your past work: The funding source will often limit the number of work samples and also limit the total length (running time) of these for review by the judging panel. Make sure that your total running time of materials to be reviewed conforms to the guidelines exactly.

6 In some cases, the granting source will ask for a "narrative" of your professional career and/or a "statement of plans" in the case of a fellowship award. The application may also request a longer proposal or project description.

A copy of an Internal Revenue Service letter of non-profit status (from a sponsoring non-profit), or a 501(C) 3 number from an "umbrella" non-profit, is only needed if you are applying to a foundation that only grants to non-profits, or if you are applying through a non-profit or umbrella non-profit.

An umbrella non-profit is an organization that permits individuals to use its non-profit status and number to receive grants, which are then "funneled" to the applicant, with the umbrella taking a small administrative fee off the top of the award.

7 Some granting foundations require the non-profit's "mission statement" be included in the application packet and/or certain fiscal records. These are usually an accounting of the financial status or health of the recipient non-profit. These are provided by the staff accountant or director of the organization.

8 If you are applying as an individual, have an experienced friend or colleague look over your grant application. If you are seeking a grant through a non-profit, have the director review your materials. This is highly advisable for spotting errors and minor details that you may have missed.

You may wish to make/keep a copy of your application materials for future reference.

9 Finally, submit the material online. You will usually receive a confirmation email following your submission. Otherwise, mail the material via the post office or private courier service.
